Since my online class, Teaching and Learning with Technology started, I got to thinking what about the kids that go to school and do not have access to all the great technologies I have been exploring? A majority of American kids have access to a computer in their home but what about the American kids that don’t? Technology is great but it is not affordable for all. It can be a very useful learning tool and it is sad to me to think that some kids will never be given the opportunity to explore its greatness. Some kids may never see a SMART board or an ELMO. Some schools require students to have their own personal laptop where other schools don’t even have up to date computers available for their students to use. I just hope one day I will be able to teach in a school where up to date technology will be available for my students.
I've been thinking a lot about this too. We are learning how to integrate all this amazing technology into our classrooms- I just hope we have access to it. Some classes are lucky to have one computer. Interesting post. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is very true and very sad at the same time because we are taught to incorporate all this technology into the classroom but the reality is that not all schools have access to such technologies, so we need to be prepared as teachers of how to make the classroom useful for no technology.
